Introducing Speakers! Welfare Not Warfare Public Meeting Tonight 7:30 pm!

Danni Wilkinson has been in health-care for over twenty years, first as a nurse and now as an independent midwife. As a nurse she spearheaded the Nightingales Fight for Fair Pay campaign in 2018, angering the DHB, nurse union NZNO, and Winston Peters, who called her a liar on air. For the last seven years she has continued to be involved in activism, focusing on nurse safety, anti-racism, violence against women, abortion rights, and LGBTQ+ interests. She has organized, spoken at rallies and to the media, and shown up to do what’s needed. Right now she’s working to organize against the current government’s ongoing gutting of our national health services.

Rahman Bashir comes from a movement background leading and organizing for BLM, Sudan, Muslim communities and Palestine. He holds a qualifications in Urban Planning, a masters of urban design and is currently completing a masters in public policy. His research focuses on spatial justice, state housing, and neoliberal planning policy. He is currently researching infrastructure funding exploring value capture taxes. He currently works as a Principal planner at Auckland Council and leads the regional African body of Auckland as their president.
