Although Capitalism allowed the US empire to flourish, it will end and collapse because of its own internal contradictions. We can already see that US hegemony in decline. There is rising inequality while Billionaires spend vast amounts of money using the media and politicians to advocate for their vested interests. They constantly seek ways to increase their wealth and power while facing the threat of competition from China in particular. The fossil fuel industry which should be facing it’s demise is instead being propped up by the mega wealthy who can buy the political system, undermine science, and control the discourse. Big Tech Billionaire donors were all seated near Trump at his inauguration on January 20th.

The so-called gilded age that Trump reminisced about cannot be replicated but we can learn from the US government policies of that period from the late 1800s. In particular rampant inequality and discriminatory, eugenics based immigration policies and laws against miscegeny which were considered harsh even by Nazis in the early days of Hitler’s rise to power.

We expect a lively and varied discussion, and invite you to add your perspective on what no doubt will be discussed at length for decades to come. We understand that this a challenging time for everyone, and hope to allow for a healthy outlet while at the same time offering solutions to the problems caused by capitalism, imperialism, and greed.
